Choosing Life

I've gotten quite a few questions about where I stand regarding Roe v Wade. I recognize no matter what I say, there will always be people who disagree, or a way I could've said it better. If you follow me, I hope you know me enough by now to know that my heart is to always to remind you who Jesus is and - therefore - who you are as His child and the one He loves. I thought I would share my family's story because I believe it is one of hope, life, redemption and a true miracle. My great grandfather was an alcoholic and physically abusive. My great grandmother was raped by him, resulting in pregnancy involving my grandfather. My great grandmother tried to have an abortion two different times while pregnant with my grandpa, because she believed she couldn't adequately care for him. If an abortion would’ve been allowed with my grandpa, I wouldn’t be here. My mom wouldn’t be here. My brothers and sister wouldn’t be here. My cousins wouldn’t be here. My sister's kids wouldn't be here. My brothers' kids wouldn’t be here. And my daughter Rhonny wouldn't be here. The one life of my grandpa has now given life to 28 people and that number will only continue to grow. My great-grandmother put my grandpa in foster care when he was very young, and he went back and forth between staying with his mom and his foster-care family. My "Mimi Bell" and "Pop", his foster mom and dad, showed my grandpa who Jesus is... When my grandpa was only 19 he began preaching and grew to become an evangelist. Jesus, through the life and ministry of my grandpa, has fed hundreds of thousands of hungry children in Africa and has helped enable them to also have life! You could've argued that my grandpa didn't have a good future ahead of him and you could say the odds were all against him, because they were! BUT, God and His goodness never fails. Jesus came to give us life and life abundantly, to every person, every background, every race and every family history. Though we get to be both receivers and carriers of that life, Jesus is the one who promised the abundance. I've seen that abundance in my own life and in my own family. I "shouldn't" be able to say this is my story, but I can because Jesus changed everything.
